Mobile Learning

My work on the MA Creative and Media Education programme has led me to investigate the connection between formal and informal learning methods, and the effectiveness of blended learning programmes, combining both traditional classroom-based training with e-learning opportunities.

In particular, I am interested in the impact that mobile technologies have on the learning of computer aided design software programmes. As a result of this interest, I have produces a short film, identifying mobile learning as a potential resource for design industry professionals, and as a suitable addition to existing blended learning practices.

Realism

Here is a short film I produced as part of the Practice unit for my Creative and Media Education masters degree (MACME). I was really interested in the moves towards realism in 3D visualisations, animated films and current video games. Of particular interest was the work of Japanese roboticist Masahiro Mori and his theory of the ‘uncanny valley’.

3D Matchmoving

I’ve been meaning to develop some matchmoving work, so here is a first attempt at using Matchmover with 3ds max.

Matchmover very cleverly works out the real world camera positions and movement, as well as a local coordinate system, and exports a Max Script file to recreate the exact some camera movement and parameters in a 3ds max scene.
